KELSEY KINDRED ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING
8/28/99

The Kelsey Kindred annual business meeting was called to order by the President, Wallace Kelsey. A quorum was verified.

The Rev. Rydell Kelsey gave an opening prayer.

The President welcomed everyone tot he reunion and introduced the Hosts and Hostesses. He asked everyone to introduce themselves and tell where they are from.

The Recording Secretaries Report — I reported on the highlights on the past years meetings. They included a donation of books to the Windsor Historical Society, a donation of scrapbooks and memorabilia and a special award to a past president.

The Treasurers Report — Bill reported that a few errors were made in the annual report on the news bulletin. The figures were incorrect but the final figures were correct. Bill reported that we currently have disbursements of $4,731.35. The cash on hand is $5,158.38. The memorial fun has a balance of $1,001.91. Now that the account has reached $1,000.00 it can be transferred to a CD to earn mroe interest. All these figures add up to a financially healthy Kindred.

Membership Secretaries Report — Jackie reported that the kindred has 749 members 125 of those are life members. That leaves 624 dues paying members. We presently have 35 delinquent members. If they do not respond to notice they will be dropped from the membership.

Genealogists Report — Paula reported that she has heard from a gentleman in England who claims to have information on William Kelsey and his ancestry. Jane Caldwell has applied for membership in the kindred. She claims to be a descendent of Hester (which would prove a connection to William). This could be exciting for the Kindred. Paula reported that book sales are low. It appears that the reunion attendees already possess the books. An application has been filed to make the web site a registered domain. This would involve changing the address to a simpler one. Belle Denzel suggested that we advertise our reunions in both Fort Wayne and Salt Lake City (two popular genealogical study facilities). Kels Kelsey agreed that we only need one response to make it all worthwhile. A discussion was held about putting the Kelsey genealogy book information on disc. Paula agreed that we need to consider this. As she said it is a major undertaking. It warrants further discussion by the Executive board. Another curse of action to be reviewed is a photo stat copies of book volumes 3 and 4. Kels mentioned that he has such a copy of book one. paula had never seen it. Since volume IV is so large it willb e very expensive to reproduce. More discussion is necessary on this subject before any action will be taken. Bill mentioned that the book fund is for such a project.

Publicity Report — Jackie listed a number of periodicals in which she had advertised the Kindred, the reunion, etc.

Constitution and By Laws Committee — Bill Belcher reported that the committee had met twice to discuss changes. At those meetings a few issues were still complicating the presentation process. He said the committee would be taking another year to finalize the changes for presentation. He mentioned that one of the most important goals is to include the Bulletin Editor as an officer.

Auditor's Report — Bill Belcher read the auditors report. Pat Scharf reported that upon reviewing the financial records everything seemed to be in order.

Reunion Committee — Paula reported that the picnic scheduled for sunday will begin at 12:00 pm. Jackie reported that 58 adults are attending the reunion with 5 children. 18 are descendants of John, 17 or Stephen and 2 of Daniel.

Robert F. Gaber Award — Jackie reported that we had no applicants for the Scholarship. The scholarship money for this year will be transferred to the endowment fund.

Old Business — There was no old business.

New Business — Life Memberships ˜ Bill explained the need to raise the Life Membership fee to cover the Kindred's costs. Bill Belcher made a motion to raise the fee from $100.00 to $200.00, it was seconded. The vote was approved by a 54 to 1 ratio.
,br> Nominating Committee — Ken Carter reported that all the officers have agreed to continue in their present positions for one more year. He then asked for nominations from the floor. Kels Kelsey made a motion that the nominations be closed. It was seconded and it was approved by a 54 to 1 ratio.

Rydell Kelsey said a prayer for the Kindred members who have passed away during the last year, mentioning each by name.
Kels Kelsey made a motion to close the meeting. It was seconded and all were in favor.

Respectfully submitted by Suzanne K. Hall
